China Glaze Harvest Moon
- by Playing with Polish
Harvest Moon is another polish from China Glaze’s Hunger Games collection. It is also another not typically “me” polish that I am enjoying. It is a golden carmel brown shimmer/foil and it is lovely! I wore Harvest Moon to lunch with a friend yesterday, and she loved the color. In fact she mentioned it several times
Application was excellent. Two coats and a top coat shown.
China Glaze Riveting
- by Playing with Polish
It seems that I might be the only person who hasn’t read the Hunger Games books, or seen the movie. I wasn’t able to ignore the polish though!
I just had to grab several polishes from China Glaze’s Capitol Colors Hunger Games collection. When I saw Riveting at Sally’s it struck me as being an autumn color. I am not feeling spring pastels at the moment, so although I generally avoid oranges this bright color seemed to fit the bill. It has been overcast and raining pretty much all week, so a pop of color is most welcome! I like it in the bottle, but this bright orange and gold shimmer is even better on the nail. It is such a flattering bright orange that is totally on trend. There is not doubt that this fiery color is perfect for spring and summer. Based on the promos I have seen, some of the movie’s costumes are a real visual treat. Maybe I should go see it after all
Application was excellent. This polish really glides on. Two coats and a top coat shown.
China Glaze Holiday – Peace on Earth & Jolly Holly
- by Playing with Polish
I feel like I am totally behind on swatching and posting
I am trying to catch-up! Here are two beautiful greens from China Glazes new holiday collection
Peace on Earth
I am not usually a big fan of olive greens. They don’t tend to be very flattering on me. Peace on Earth is an exception though! It is a beautiful glowing olive green with a golden shimmer. It is stunning, even on me!
Application was excellent, and it covered in one coat! One coat and a top coat shown.
Jolly Holly
An outstanding shimmery cool dark pine green. I love it! It looks a little more blue in the picture than it does in real life.
Also a one coater! Application was excellent, with coverage in one coat. One coat and a top coat shown.
Overall the gorgeous shimmery colors and awesome one coat application make these winners in my book! One coat application is such a great time saver, and especially great for the busy holiday season! What’s not to love?!?
China Glaze Vintage Vixen
- by Playing with Polish
Vintage Vixen is China Glaze’s collection for fall 2010. There are a dozen colors, but I only bought six of them (so far anyway). I love the change of seasons from summer to fall (even though I live in Northern California where the seasonal changes are more mild than in many other parts of the world). I am looking forward to some gorgeous and glamorous fall colors!
Classic Camel
A shimmery golden tan/yellow that reminds me of honey mustard. I am sure this would be a unique and cool color on someone, but I really hate it on me!
Application was good. For some reason the texture reminded me a bit of mustard too. It made me feel like I might actually be spreading mustard on my nails. Three coats and a top coat shown.
Ingrid
A medium brown with a golden shimmer. I wasn’t expecting much, especially after trying Classic Camel. This color was a pleasant surprise! In fact I really like it! This polish strikes the perfect note for fall!
Application was very good. Two coats and a top coat shown.
Hey Doll
A brownish-rose colored shimmery metallic frost. I thought I was going to like this more than I actually did. It is a pretty color, but something about it is a bit boring. A bit old lady perhaps?
Application was very good. Two coats and a top coat shown.
Bogie
A brownish-eggplant purple with the same shimmery metallic frost finish as Hey Doll. This one is much prettier on me though! The blue shimmer really adds a wonderful dimension to this color!
Application was very good. Two coats and a top coat shown.
Jitterbug
A lovely gunmetal foil. It was difficult to get a crisp focused picture that really showed how shimmery this color is.
Application was very good. Two coats and a top coat shown.
First Class Ticket
A blue leaning purple with a ton of blue shimmer. It’s yummy! I am generally a big fan of purple nail polish, and this one is a great addition to my collection!
Application was very good. Two coats and a top coat shown.
Although not all of them look great on me, overall these are great fall colors! I am especially looking forward to wearing Boogie and First Class Ticket. I may even pick-up a few more Vintage Vixen shades.
China Glaze Princess Grace
- by Playing with Polish
I have to confess that the primary reason I bought this one was for the name. I LOVE Grace Kelly! She was such a beautiful and elegant woman. I recently finished reading, High Society, a very enjoyable biography named after her last film. I also had the opportunity to see some of her jewelry including her 10.47 carat engagement ring at the Legion of Honor’s Cartier in America Exhibition. Words escape me! What an amazing pilgrimage for a sparkle junkie like me!
But enough about the legendary actress and princess, and onto the nail polish
Princess Grace is a whisper soft pink that appears to be a pale lavender in some lights. It has a very delicate pearlescent look, and does not have that harsh “old lady frost” finish. The formulation is quite sheer, and even after three coats I still have a visible nail line. It applied easily, but I did have some issues with brush stokes. This is a subtle elegant color that would be suitable for any office. It reminds me of the pale pink polish I wore on my wedding day. Three coats and a top coat shown.
