Orly ¡Viva! – Happy Cinco De Mayo!
- by Playing with Polish
Viva is a festive new collection for summer. Since it is “Latin inspired” I was not sure it would work on someone as pale as me. Also, I tend not to like most oranges. Overall I was surprised at how good these colors looked on me. I liked these a lot more than I thought I would!
The formula on all four is quite pigmented, but it varied a lot in application.
Orly Olé
Olé is a bright reddish-orange crème. Application was excellent! This one practically applied itself! Highly pigmented with full coverage in two coats.
Two coats with a top coat shown.
Orly Fiesta
Fiesta is a summery bright pink with pink micro glitter. Application was a bit gritty and thick. Highly pigmented with coverage in two coats. Glitter not as visible on nail as in bottle.
Two coats a top coat shown.
Orly Bailamos
Bailamos is a bright teal shimmer. Application was excellent with coverage in two coats. I wore this one for two days, and got a ton of compliments from both strangers and friends!
Two coats and a top coat shown.
Orly La Playa
La Playa is a dark blue crème. Application was a bit tricky on this one. It was thick and covered well, but was a bit hard to control.
Two coats and top coat shown.
Orly Foil FX – Rage, Shine and Luxe
- by Playing with Polish
Orly Foil FX is a collection for spring 2010. I don’t associate metallic colors with spring, but hey they are stunning so who cares? Initially I only bought Rage since I love rose gold, and figured that the other two a gold and a silver were a bit boring. A rose gold polish struck me as being more unique. In indoor lighting Rage is pretty, but in sunlight it really comes to life with dazzling sparkle goodness! I had to go back and get the other two as well.
All three of these have a lovely foil finish that really dazzles in the sun!
Application was a breeze, and this polish dried quickly.
I was racing to beat incoming rain, so the Shine picture did not benefit from as much sun as the other two colors.
Two coats shown without a top coat.
Orly Sweet Collection – Cotton Candy and Pixy Stix
- by Playing with Polish
Here are a few polishes from the new Orly Sweet collection.
Both Cotton Candy and Pixy Stix were three coaters, although my husband pointed out that the coverage on this was not as good as some of the other polishes I have worn before since he could, “still see my nail.” Oh well, it’s true even after three coats there was a very faint visible nail line.
Neither of these colors really reminded me of candy, especially Cotton Candy which I would have expected to be a baby pink color reminiscent of a spun sugar cloud. Both of these looked pink to me in the bottle, but when applied on my nails they looked like more of a coral. If I was in charge of naming them I would have come of with beach inspired names instead. I think they are great spring/summer colors, but that they would look better on someone with a tan. I never tan, so that won’t be me!
They applied nicely. Both were a bit streaky on the first coat, but were fine by the time I reached three coats. Three coats and a top coat shown.
