Right now I am about half way though midterms Last night I decided that I needed a cheerful, sparkling study mani. I started off with OPI’s The Show Must Go On! to match my toes. It was pretty, but I felt like it needed a little something more. I decided to try layering OPI’s Merry Midnight over it, and I was very pleased with the results! It ended up being lighter than Merry Midnight. I would describe it as a boysenberry pinkish purple with blue micro glitter and flakie glitter goodness! It is just what I needed to provide a little extra boost to my studying!
Application was very good on both. Two coats of The Show Must Go On! with a further two coats of Merry Midnight and a top coat shown.
I am celebrating 100 Followers on Google Friend Connect! Thank you for reading my blog! To celebrate I am giving away:
- OPI Burlesque Red Shimmers minis set (includes 0.125 oz. bottles of The Show Must Go On!, Let Me Entertain You, Ali’s Big Break and Tease-y Does It)
- MAC Bad Fairy
- Nailtini’s Mad Men inspired “You Call It” Mini Bar set (includes 0.25 oz. bottles of French 75, Burbon Satin, Stinger and Deauville)
The sun is proving elusive today, so I only have one quick shot of the Nailtini set. These beauties deserve full swatches, so time and sun willing I will add them later this week. Stinger is especially stunning. It is a blackened teal green/purple shimmer duochrome. YUM!

As you probably know by now the Shrek Ever After colors are limited edition addition to OPI’s Brights Collection. These have been sitting on my coffee table for weeks waiting for me to try them. I really like some of the colors, but I kept getting distracted by other polishes! Well the new movie comes out today, so I think it is time for me to post this!
Rumple’s Wiggin’ is a beautiful lavender crème. I really like this one on me! We are visiting some friends this summer, and am planning on giving her a set of nail polishes as a hostess gift. I am going to include this one (well not this actual one, but a new one!) Application was good. Three coats and a top coat shown.
Funky Dunky is a crayon purple crème. Application was good. Two coats and a top coat shown.
What’s With the Cattitude?
What’s With the Cattitude? is a beautiful sky blue crème. It is actually a bit more pale than the pictures. I love blues, and I think this one looks really nice on! Application was good. Three coats and a top coat shown.
Ogre-the-Top Blue is a bright blue crème that really pops! Something about this color strikes me as being quite cheerful. I like it! Application was great with opacity at two coats. Two coats and a top coat shown.
Fiercely Fiona is a slightly greenish yellow crème. Yellow is not generally my thing, but I think this one looks pretty good on me. Application was a bit streaky, but it looked good after three coats. Three coats and a top coat shown.
Who the Shrek Are You?
Who the Shrek Are You? is a Shrek green colored crème. LOL A friend described it as looking like swamp water! Honestly it is a bit on the putrid side. I was surprised that it looked ok on me. It’s not really my color though, so I don’t anticipate getting much wear out of this one. It is fun though, and I think the right person could totally pull this off! Application was good. Three coats and a top coat shown.
Overall a fun collection! I am not sure if I will see the Shrek movie though. I joke with my friends about having a one movie a year quota. It is not strictly true – some years I see two movies in the theater! This year I got it over early by going to Sherlock Holmes with my husband. I am more of a Netflix girl. I love being able to sit back and enjoy a glass of wine, and pause the movie if I have to go to the bathroom! Plus I can talk all I want without dirty looks!
Go on Green! is a duochrome that shifts from light blue to green. It was difficult to capture the color accurately. In real life the green was much more visible.
The formula is very thin and sheer, and went on quite easily. With four coats I had fairly opaque coverage. It was pretty, but I expected it to have a bit more impact. I like it, but don’t love it like I thought I would. To be honest I think I liked it more in the bottle.
Four coats and a top coat shown.
The Bay Area is experiencing more overcast and drizzly weather today. It is good for the drought we are experiencing, but it does not inspire me to swatch any pale spring pastels!
Meet Me on the Star Ferry is from OPI’s Hong Kong collection. I would describe it as a plum/mauve shimmer with a bit of glitter in the sun (the sun briefly peeked out from behind the clouds).
I actually wore this polish one other time when it first came out in February, but I did not get any pictures. I like this color on me. I think it goes well with my skin tone, and I love the sparkle. So far I have only picked-up a few of the Hong Kong polishes (Meet Me on the Star Ferry, Dim Sum Plum, Lucky Lucky Lavender and Jade is the New Black). I like the colors, but overall I think they are too dusky to look good on me.
The application on this was good, but as I have sometimes found with shimmers the finish was not totally smooth. Two coats and a top coat shown.
Purple with a Purpose is a medium purple shimmer. Indoors the shimmer is fairly subtle. It is much more pronounced in sunlight. It is a pretty color, but I was not really loving it the first day I applied it. I have been wearing it for two days now, and it has really started to grow on me. I especially like it in direct light which makes it appear quite vibrant!
Application was ok. I did notice some issues with “bald spots,” but I attribute that to a new Sephora base coat that I used. This is two coats with a top coat.
A bit of irony – I decide to start a nail polish blog, and the night before I break a nail! Arrg! Not a great start, but it does remind me of all the reasons I enjoy my nails. I normally wear them at medium length with a soft round shape. Pretty painted nails make me feel feminine and elegant. When I wear more outrageous colors they make me feel fashionable and fun! Just as with diamonds a few millimeters make a world of difference! Oh well, I trimmed and filed them so they were all short and even. It’s a good chance to try a fresh bright color that plays well on short nails – OPI’s No Room for the Blues
I love this color! It is fresh, bright and really gets noticed. It applied easily and covers well. This is two coats, with a top coat.
