Mavala Agena vs Nubar 2010
- by Playing with Polish
In response to Andy’s question about how Mavala’s Agena compares to Nubar’s 2010, I snapped a few pictures. Agena has a blue base and the flakies are are duochrome, but primarily red. Nubar has a clear base and also has duochrome flakies with the most prominent color being orange. The picture is out of focus, but it best showed the colors of the flakie glitter pieces.
Both applied nicely, but I would only use them for layering as I feel they are too sheer on their own. Two coats shown.
Nubar Purple Beach
- by Playing with Polish
Nubar Purple Beach is a knockout duochrome shimmer! Yow! The color shifts from purple to charcoal grey, gold and an awesome olive green! When I was taking the purple pictures, the sides of my nails were almost glowing green! This is such a cool effect!
Some duochromes look great in the bottle, but are a big letdown on the nail. This is not one of those polishes – it looks awesome on the nails too!
Application was great! This one really glides right on. I wish every polish applied so well, and was so darn much fun!!!
Two coats and a top coat shown.
Nubar Twilight
- by Playing with Polish
Twilight is one of three polishes from Nubar’s new Night Sky Collection. I know matte polishes have been a big trend for the past few years. As a lover of all things sparkly, I have ignored them for the most part. I am glad I decided to give Twilight a chance! Although it is not really my thing, I think it looks pretty cool!
Twilight is a silver matte polish with a suede type finish. It can be worn either with or without a top coat (the Night Sky set is sold with Diamont Quick Dry Top Coat). I think the texture looks better without one though.
Nubar Twilight without a top coat
Nubar Twilight with a top coat
Application was excellent with a fast drying time, and opaque coverage in two coats. First two pictures are without a top coat, and the second two with.
Nubar 2010
- by Playing with Polish
Nubar marks its 10th anniversary of Big Three Free polishes with Nubar 2010. This amazing flake glitter polish really delivers! The look of the flakes really shifts depending on the light, and the color of the polish underneath. The base is really sheer, and I do not care for this polish alone. It is really great for layering though!
My favorite combination so far was over Sephora by OPI’s Opening Night (a midnight blue shimmer). It reminds me of spectacular black opals shot through with red and green flash!
This polish is a bit thick, but application was good.
Two coats each of Sephora by OPI Opening Night and Nubar 2010 with a top coat shown.
Nubar Reclaim and Nubar’s Mother’s Day Sale
- by Playing with Polish
Reclaim is from Nubar’s Going Green collection. I love holographic polishes, and this one is no exception! This is a truly stunning green!
Application was a breeze and coverage was great.
Two coats without a top coat shown.
As if their polish was not already tempting enough, Nubar is having a Mother’s Day Sale!
