BB Couture Nike
- by Playing with Polish
Nike is an awesome purple from BB Couture’s Touch of Greece collection for women. The color is a somewhat reddish-purple with red and blue shimmer. Since I adore both purple and sparkly polishes, it’s not a huge surprise that I like this one too! It’s a great color, and as per usual with BB Couture the formula is great too.
Application was very good. Three coats and a top coat shown.
BB Couture Ares
- by Playing with Polish
Ares is the Greek god of war, and also a lovely dark grey polish from BB Couture’s Touch of Greece Men’s collection. Ares is a slightly bluish-grey with a touch of silver shimmer. The shimmer is hardly visible indoors, but it really comes to life in sunlight. Although this was marketed as a summer polish for men, I very much look forward to wearing it this fall!
Application was excellent. Two coats and a top coat shown.
BB Couture Dragon’s Breath
- by Playing with Polish
Dragon’s Breath is another pretty polish from BB Couture’s Fairy Tale Collection. Dragon’s Breath is a red leaning purple jelly with fine silver, red and blue glitter. It looks more bluish in the bottle, but is redder on the nail.
I got what looks tip wear on this one (visible in the pictures), but I wore this for a night out and I don’t think it had the chance to dry properly. I think it got pushed away from my tips while it was still slightly wet. Otherwise it wore quite well. The glitter was magical in lower light conditions!
Three coats with a top coat shown.
BB Couture Beetle Bailey
- by Playing with Polish
This lovely purple is from spring 2010 Carla’s Lady Bugs Collection. Beetle Bailey is a gorgeous dusky purple crème. I loved this polish on me, and husband did too
I am really feeling this year’s purples, and am totally enamored of this one, as it is different from the lavenders and bright grape sodas (I love those too though!).
Application was excellent, but a bit sheer. This polish dries quickly, so needing three coats was not an issue.
Three coats and a top coat shown.
BB Couture Peacock
- by Playing with Polish
Peacock is another of Hailey’s lovely butterflies.
Peacock is a vibrant sunny yellow! I love pale colors, but Peacock is a welcome departure from the pastel yellows that are also popular this spring. Although I am not usually a huge fan of yellow, I really like this one! Application was a bit sheer and a tad streaky, but overall not too bad. I had opaque coverage in three coats.
Three coats and a top coat shown.
BB Couture Emperor
- by Playing with Polish
Emperor is another beauty from BB Couture’s Hailey’s Butterflies collection.
Based on the pictures on the manufacturer’s website I expected Emperor to be a creamy pastel pink. I was surprised but not disappointed to find instead that it was a luscious peach with a slight shimmer! This juicy color is perfect for spring and summer!
Application was great, but a bit sheer. It took me three coats for opaque coverage. This polish dries quickly though, so three coats was not an issue for me.
Three coats and a top coat shown.
BB Couture Skipper
- by Playing with Polish
Skipper is from BB Couture’s spring Hailey’s Butterflies collection. All of the colors in this collection are named after butterflies, but the obvious thing that comes to my mind is that Skipper Barbie’s little sister (especially since the polish is pink)! However I was not planning on mentioning that in my review. When my husband came home and asked me what color I was wearing his response was, “oh like from Barbie?” So I had to say it!
I love this color! It is a bright, beautiful, flattering, wearable pink. The blue/violet mico-shimmer gives added dimension. This is a very cheerful color, and I imagine it will be one of my go to pinks.
The application was excellent, with coverage in two easy coats.

BB Couture for Men Blue Collar
- by Playing with Polish
Blue Collar is from BB Couture’s new Regular Guy collection. I believe this is their fourth men’s collection, which is really cool!
Blue Collar is a grayish-blue with frosty silver shimmer. While cadet blue can be a very masculine color, I quite like it on myself. It is kind of like borrowing your boyfriend or husband’s favorite shirt!
Application was good, but it did take me three coats to get complete coverage. Overall I really love this one, and think it works quite well on my skin tone. BB Couture is hands down one of my favorite polish brands. I picked-up a few others at the same time, and I can’t wait to try them out!

BB Couture Zuma Wave Rider
- by Playing with Polish
Zuma Wave Rider is a dreamy, creamy blue! In the bottle there was a blue shimmer visible, but I could not see it once it was applied. This color is very creamy looking sky blue in most lights, but in indirect light it appears to be a bit more of a periwinkle. This color almost looks good enough to eat!
Once again BB Couture’s formula is a winner! It applied easily, and covered in two coats.
Although they are not exactly the same color, Zuma Wave Rider reminded me a bit of my childhood favorite, Grumpy Bear. Two coats and a top coat are shown.
BB Couture Poison Apple
- by Playing with Polish
I woke-up this morning to pouring rain. I am so ready for the “May flowers” – and bike rides!
At breakfast my husband asked me what color I was going to paint my nails today. Then he remarked that a rainy day was a good time to wear a Hawaiian shirt. I was thinking I should do another blue or some other “rainy color,” but what he said got me thinking about doing something brighter. I recently got a yummy red Kate Spade bag from their online sample sale. The bag has garnered a ton of compliments, so I think I will do head turning red.
BB Couture Poison Apple is a luscious red jelly from their Fairy Tale collection. It is a sexy, warm bright true red. In the bottle I see a slight shimmer, but it is not visible on the nail.
The application on this is a dream. In fact it was practically a fairy tale! As usual BB Couture does not disappoint! Poisoned or not, I adore this apple!
Two coats and a top coat shown.
Here is a comparison to some similar reds in my stash.
