Urban Decay Apocalypse & CND Effects Copper Pearl
- by Playing with Polish
Urban Decay Apocalypse
Apocalypse is one of the minis from Urban Decay’s Apocalyptic Nail Kit. It is a deep eggplant purple crème. It is a nice winter color, but not very unique.
Application was good. Two coats and a top coat shown.
CND Effects Copper Pearl
Copper Pearl is my second CND Effects. In November I reviewed Ice Blue Shimmer. I am looking forward to trying more of these top coats! They really change personality of the polishes you use with them. Copper Pearl over Apocalypse yielded a much warmer reddish Burgundy shimmer. Pretty!!! My husband did not seem too impressed by Apocalypse, but he loved it with a top coat of Effects.
Application was excellent. Two coats of Apocalypse and one coat of CND Copper Pearl shown.
Zoya Kelly
- by Playing with Polish
I should not complain. We have such good weather here in the Bay Area, but the last week and a half or so has been rainy and overcast. We need the rain, so that part is good but it makes it hard to take good nail polish pictures (I prefer to take them in natural light as I think it provides a more accurate representation of the colors). The sun decided to poke out from behind a cloud, so I took advantage of the brief photo opportunity. Although I have a ton of bright new polishes lined up on my coffee table waiting to be swatched, I decided to do a stormy grey instead. Zoya’s Kelly is from their fall Wonderful collection. It is a beautiful bluish-grey and reminds me of a storm cloud! I love it! If I can’t have sunshine, I will happily take Kelly instead!
It looks a little darker in the picture than it does in real life, but the lighting conditions were not ideal.
Application was excellent. Two coats and a top coat shown.
Color Club Untamed Luxury Indulgence Collection
- by Playing with Polish
Color Club’s Untamed Luxury Indulgence Collection is another set that I think would make a fun stocking stuffer. I grabbed this one at Ross for only $7.99! What a steal, seven colors for only eight bucks!
Wild Orchid
Wild Orchid is a lovely cool toned grey with a bluish-silver shimmer. It is a beautiful, elegant color
Application was very good. Although the formula seemed a bit thin, it covered in two coats. Two coats and a top coat shown.

Color Club Soft as Cashmere, Color Club Jewel of a Girl, Color Club Wild Orchid, Color Club Snakeskin, Color Club Red Velvet, Color Club Untamed Luxury, Color Club Ready to Royal
Overall if you don’t already own this set, I think it is a great find at $7.99! It would be a great gift, or a fun gift for yourself!
Urban Decay Apocalyptic Nail Kit
- by Playing with Polish
Priced at only $13, Urban Decay’s Apocalyptic Nail Kit is a fun holiday gift or stocking stuffer for the nail polish lover in your life (or maybe a holiday goodie for yourself
)! It looks like the kit is a Beauty.com exclusive. It contains 7 mini polishes: White Widow, Gunmetal, Apocalypse, Grunge, Meltdown, Big Bang and Fbomb.
Big Bang
Big Bang is a bright raspberry pink foil. It looks more red in photographs than it did in real life. IThis bring pop of shimmery color is just what I need for dreary overcast days!
I have been wearing this one for three days, and it is holding-up quite well. I often find that foils do not wear well on me, but this one is a wear winner.
Application was good. Two coats and a top coat shown.
I will try to get swatches of the other colors soon. I also have some other well-priced kits to review as I think they would make great holiday gifts!
